What isTarot?

In brief, the Tarot is a wonderful, enchanting, broad and dynamic system of sacred images that are an archetypal representation of different aspects of the human experience throughout life’s journey. Generally, a Tarot card deck is composed of 78 cards which are divided into two groups, the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana. “Arcana” is derived from the Latin word arcanus which means “secret”. It refers to the unknown of the spiritual world and the physical existence. The Major Arcana has 22 cards, and the Minor Arcana has 56. The Minor Arcana is divided into 4 suits: Swords, Wands, Cups and Pentacles. The names of these suits may differ among the many, many Tarot Card decks created and published, but the deck will still typically have 4 suits.

What is an Oracle?

An oracle is generally defined as a person or object that delivers divine communication and guidance on a particular matter in question. The word “oracle” is derived from the Latin word oraculum which refers to divine communication regarding the unknown or future. Oracles can take many forms such as cards, pendulums, bones, spirit boards and other spiritual tools. They do not necessarily follow concrete or fixed systems and orders such as the Tarot, but do contain sacred symbolism, numbers, words and imagery. These attributes are interpreted
to deliver messages.
